Strauss need to learn from Australian crisis

There is no doubt that Andrew Strauss instead receive a lot of advice in the coming weeks in his new role as director of England cricket, so this column does not want to miss out on that series of lawyer.
• Petersen century for Surrey piles pressure on the European Central Bank Director Strauss
My advice? That Strauss to read, and if it has not already done so, a book called acquittal for acquittal by Australian journalist Daniel Brettig, and this not only because it seems that Strauss might consider an Australian or two to take over from Peter Morris as head coach.

The second cut briefly Peter Morris short by the European Central Bank last week
Whitewashs and two in question are 5-0 thrashings handed out from England to Australia in 2006-07 and 2013-14, but is not really a book about the victory. It is about the calamities that befell Australia in the intervening years.
Shine Australia now world champion and second in the rankings test, it is easy to forget what a mess they are, especially in recent times, such as in 2013 when there was this nonsense unfathomable of four players hung in India for not providing their homework, with coach Mickey Arthur inevitably pay for it with his job in 2013 Ashes in England before.

Australia bounced back from the disappointments through rebuilding
It is a book full of the rich, and details have not been disclosed previously, not least that the decision to suspend these players came from a staff meeting in Mohali, comprising 15 people, some of whom had just flew in to talk to the players about some mumbo- companies jumbo that Cricket Australia considered task.
Which had made such a decision damage by some who have very little importance and relevance team is indicative of the largest in Australian cricket problem at that time. No one knows who was responsible. People were getting involved in matters that do not have a job.
Rang the bell?
It is a similar situation in England, which found itself in the recent one in which sank deeper if she went to the director along the lines of football - may also put forward - rather than Strauss.
Because of the similarity with greater sharpness remember that Australia actually copied England in the first place, but then I got in the beginning that copying is wrong.
One of the main recommendations of the report that followed the sergeant England Ashes victory Down Under in 2010-11 is to create a similar position to that of Hugh Morris occupied during the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Somewhat surprising given that this role is a former player and coach rugby union, Pat Howard. Perhaps the most surprising of the appointment of Paul DOWNTON from one place to England in 2013.

Pat Howard made a move by the Rugby Union supervision of the Australian cricket team
And, as DOWNTON do, Howard made a lot of mistakes, and attract a lot of criticism. Shane Warne and even called him "Dolls", adding: "Cricket Australia really need to look at the people making decisions. We become seriously a joke." But the sacking of Arthur Remember Howard, with the appointment of Darren Lehmann as a coach means clarifying roles. Ever to be saved unfortunately DOWNTON made a lot of obvious errors.

So Howard was given another two years, such as the so-called "Executive General Manager of the Australian team's performance." He clearly knows what he is doing now. As Arthur says in the book Brettig saying: "I've talked with a lot of people, they say, is rarely around now. When I was there there was in every minute of every day. All I wanted is what Darren. Everyone was trying to find a definition of the role and climbing above each other to find a sense of power. I was a scapegoat for Darren to get the full autonomy on the team, which is great because this is what it should be. "
But it should be. That is the way it works Morris. It has never been close to the team. Only good people appointed and reliable. It was a buffer between the playing and administrative aspects of the European Central Bank, is working behind the scenes, planning and strategic planning. Often drag cricket and arms trade in very different directions these days, so the last one is very important. It leaves the coach and his staff to focus on cricket.
Strauss certainly will do the same now, even if his role may differ in some ways. Strauss may not need a reminder, but the book Brettig can remind him how quickly matters can be turned around, so close to the series of ash, and, to highlight the failures of Howard, it can also be a notice of the manner in which Strauss that his new approach function.
Quietly and firmly in the background, just as he did Morris
