Jordan six secures one-wicket thriller

Chris Jordan impacted an unbeaten 56 off only 34 balls to guide Sussex to an exceptional one-wicket win over Warwickshire in the LV= County Championship at Hove.

The England allrounder, who was let alone for the first Test against New Zealand, hit eight fours and two sixes, the second of which off Chris Wright fixed a triumph that had looked profoundly doubtful when Sussex were 45 for 5 and pursuing 190 to win.

At the same time, Ben Brown, with 53 from 61 balls, gave them trust and Jordan created an eye-getting presentation of clean hitting to leave Warwickshire staggered. Jordan had a relief on 44 when Keith Barker dropped a direct catch at long leg off Boyd Rankin and he benefitted as much as possible from his good fortune.

The equalization then appeared to tip to support Warwickshire in the following over when Rankin struck twice in four balls. Ollie Robinson feathered an edge and Steve Magoffin lost his leg stump to leave Sussex requiring 15 to win, with just last man Matthew Hobden to come.

Hobden survived the last chunk of the over and in the following Jordan bored Wright to the long-on limit before a bouncer cruised high over wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose for four byes. That left Sussex requiring six to win and Jordan crushed the following ball from Wright back over his head for a straight greatest.

Warwickshire will think about how they lost, notwithstanding. Wright delivered an astounding new ball spell before lunch, taking 3 for 20 from eight overs, including both openers Chris Nash and Luke Wells before he bowled Harry Finch for 1.

Sussex captain Ed Joyce, who had been dropped on nothing, tumbled to the first ball after the resumption for 13 and there was little Luke Wright could do about the conveyance from Rikki Clarke as he was gotten at second slip off the shoulder of his bat.

Sussex looked bound yet Craig Cachopa rode his fortunes to help Brown include 58 for the eighth wicket. Chestnut played his shots from the off, dispatching Barker on to the top of a friendliness tent as the 6th wicket pair started to warm to their undertaking.

Cachopa in the long run holed out to long-on when Jeetan Patel was brought into the assault, and Warwickshire captain Varun Chopra appeared to have rolled out another critical bowling improvement when he brought back Rankin and Brown pulled his second ball to Barker on the profound midwicket limit.

Be that as it may, by then Jordan was discovering his extent and it was his uncomplicated presentation of clean hitting on a pitch which kept on offerring indulgent sideways development that had the effect.

Prior, Warwickshire's last three wickets included 20 keeps running before they were bowled out for 200 in their second innings. Jordan grabbed two wickets however on this event it was his batting that demonstrated unequivocal.

Jordan conceded a while later the win had helped him beat his mistake at passing up a major opportunity for England's line-up against New Zealand.

"It is extraordinary to have the capacity to return to Sussex and make a commitment, particularly one like what helps us win," he said. "Clearly I was baffled not to play in the Lord's Test but rather you need to get over it rapidly, and its extremely fulfilling to help us get what was an exceptionally uncommon win.

"At 45 for 5 I don't think anybody gave us much trust, yet on that wicket you can't generally bat with a strategy, you simply need to be sure, attempt and produce a few shots and ride your luckiness. Anyway, we wouldn't have won without Ben Brown's innings. He set things up and I just went out there and chose to play my shots and it has paid off.

"It was a decent three days for me. I got a few overs added to my repertoire and scored keeps running at a urgent time which is awesome for certainty. I'm anticipating getting together with the England young men at Leeds and we'll go from that point."
